It was announced this week that the Chicago Bulls would own the eighth place tiebreaker in the 2021 NBA Draft Lottery, which helps them out a tad bit in the odds to get their first-round pick back. But the Bulls are still facing rather poor odds to get their lottery pick back this year from the Orlando Magic.
How the Magic ended up with the Bulls lottery pick for 2021 in the first place was by way of the trade at the deadline back on March 25 that landed star center Nikola Vucevic in Chicago. The Bulls got Vucevic and veteran forward Al-Farouq Aminu at the trade deadline in exchange for two first-round draft picks, third-year center Wendell Carter Jr., and veteran small forward Otto Porter Jr.
Executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley still look to have made a good move at the deadline by mortgaging a good portion of the Bulls future to give star shooting guard Zach LaVine a true stud running mate. Vooch and Zach should be a good star duo for the Bulls moving forward.
How the Chicago Bulls can use what draft capital they do have to build around Zach LaVine?
What the Bulls do still have this year is a slightly better than 20 percent chance to land in the top four in the lottery and get their pick back from the Magic (per Tankathon odds). The Bulls also hold the 40th overall pick in the second round of the 2021 NBA Draft.
That’s still enough to potentially make something of for the Bulls. With that in mind, here’s a look into some potential draft targets for the Bulls that could be key pieces around LaVine in the rotation.
