Chicago Bulls that Finished the Season Strong: Thaddeus Young

There’s a reason Thaddeus Young was a hot trade target among NBA contenders at this year’s deadline. There is also a reason that interest never led anywhere as the team decided to hang onto him.

That is due to his veteran presence but also his resurgent play. He continued that to close out the season and by doing so made sure teams will be interested in trading for him this off-season. He also made sure the Bulls won’t listen unless it’s an overwhelming type of offer.

The versatility Young brings on both ends of the court is an asset to any and every team that is interested in winning games right now.  Young averaged 12.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game in the nine games he played in the month of May.

It was a bounce back from a dip in his numbers in the month of April, which makes it that much more important to see. There are reasons his numbers across the board went back up, including head coach Billy Donovan finding rotations that best utilized Young and other players as the season wore on.

Young is one of few players on the Bulls roster that fits very well next to the core players the team will feature in coming years. He is versatile on both ends and a professional on and off the court. Donovan may have pulled the right strings at the right time to show the front office why Young needs to stick around next season.

His defense could be an asset on a roster that lacks defense and his offense will fit next to anybody. Young’s finish to the season was certainly promising for both him and the team moving forward.

His play all season helped him earn a high grade to his season. The finish to it played a major part in that.
