A threat always exists that players on a two-way contract don’t return the following season. And since the Bulls already brought the second-year shooting guard/wing Adam Mokoka back on a two-way contract for the second straight season last fall and he didn’t get a bigger role during the 2020-21 campaign than he did in the season prior, indicators are looming for his future.

Mokoka did show some real flashes of potential, and I personally believe he’s still got a role in an NBA rotation somewhere. He’s solid in transition, shows volume scoring abilities at times, and is a solid one-on-one perimeter defender. Mokoka is also pretty switchable on defense covering any position between the one and three.

However, the fit might just not be right with the likes of Karnisovas and Donovan for Mokoka. Although he could help them out defensively, the offensive skill set of Mokoka still needs a good amount of refining before he’s ready for a consistent role in any rotation.

In fact, it does feel like the Bulls didn’t give much of a shot this season to either of their players in the two-way contract slots. Mokoka only got to play in 13 games for the Bulls so far this season. And former Kansas Jayhawks point guard Devon Dotson only got to play in nine games.

Most of the game action this season for Mokoka and Dotson came in the G-League bubble. But that might not spell good things for them heading into the offseason if they want to stick around with the Bulls.

I would be more on Dotson returning next season in a two-way contract slot over Mokoka since this is only his first year with Chicago.
