Garrett Temple, SG

There was a point in time when I was a big fan of the signing of the former Nets veteran shooting guard Garrett Temple from last offseason. But a lot of the lauding of that signing has worn off in recent months. A lot of the inefficiencies in Temple’s game offensively came to the forefront in the past two months.

Post-All-Star Break, Temple has not played too well for Donovan and the Bulls. He also got a bigger role with the Bulls when LaVine was absent due to a violation of the league’s health and safety protocol.

Temple has played in 21 games for the Bulls (more than half of which he’s started in) since the All-Star Break. And he’s averaged just 5.6 points per game, 2.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 0.5 steals, and 0.5 blocks. Temple shot 39.1 percent from the field, 31.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 75.0 percent from the free-throw line.

It feels like the shooting proficiency of Temple just completely went out the window post-All-Star Break. His shooting percentages are down across the board in his last 20 games or so, and he has a lot of complete bricks and air balls.

Since executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley signed Temple to a one-year contract last fall, it might not be worth bringing him back for next season. This role in the Bulls guard rotation could be best served with someone else.
