Players that the Chicago Bulls shouldn’t let walk: Tomas Satoransky

In the past couple of weeks, we’ve seen the role of the lengthy 6-foot-7 and 210 pound 29-year-old combo guard Tomas Satoransky wither away a bit. Donovan and the Bulls aren’t relying as much on Sato to help this starting five since star shooting guard Zach LaVine starting missing games due to a violation of the league’s health and safety protocol.

One game that Sato missed a couple of weeks ago due to an illness could’ve also sparked the loss in playing time for him of late. In his place, second-year point guard Coby White is back in the starting five.

Sato is getting roughly two minutes less of playing time per game this month compared to last. And he’s averaged fewer points per game, rebounds, and assists, in April than he did in March.

Nonetheless, Sato has played pretty well when called upon this season. And it’s nice to have the insurance policy in someone as versatile as Sato that can play off a very different skill set than the Bulls have out of White.

Moreover, Sato is not on this list because he is set to hit the free agent market this coming offseason. But he does not have a fully guaranteed deal for next season as it stands now. And it looks like it would be wise for the Bulls to keep Sato around at least for most of next season unless they can bolster the backcourt rotation in another way.
