Players that the Chicago Bulls shouldn’t let walk: Devon Dotson

Speaking of bolstering the backcourt rotation, if the Bulls’ new front office regime doesn’t feel like it is the right move to keep a lot of the current guards for next season, then this will be a big topic of discussion.

More specifically if the Bulls’ front office doesn’t bring back the likes of former Michigan State Spartans shooting guard/wing Denzel Valentine and former Villanova Wildcats point guard and undrafted free agent Ryan Arcidiacono heading into the offseason, then the next player up on this list might need to come back.

It looked like executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley made a really solid move just after the NBA Draft last year when they signed the former Kansas Jayhawks star point guard Devon Dotson as an undrafted free agent. But they haven’t given much playing time at all this season to Dotson, despite running short on point guard depth at times.

Dotson has only played in bits and pieces of six games for the Bulls this season. He registered a total of six points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal, no blocks, and no turnovers, in 22 total minutes played on the season to date.

Currently holding one of the two-way contract slots for the Bulls this year, Dotson might be able to be brought back on the same deal heading into the offseason. To keep some consistency and depth for the backcourt rotation heading into next season, this could be a good move for the Bulls.

I’m a personal fan of the game of Dotson, and firmly believe he should get a solidified shot to make the 15-man roster next season heading out of Training Camp and the preseason.
