Underrated Chicago Bulls FA targets to watch down the stretch: Richaun Holmes

One of my personal favorite potential free agent targets for the Bulls come this offseason is the ultra-underrated Sacramento Kings big man Richaun Holmes. Since they’ve struggled to stay competitive out in the Western Conference again this season, a lot of the better Kings players have largely fallen under the radar of late. And that could very much play into the Bulls’ benefit if they want to pursue someone like Holmes or his teammate and former Duke Blue Devil Marvin Bagley.

A plethora of Kings players on their current roster could be set to hit the free agent and/or trade markets this summer. This coming offseason, the Kings are set to see Kyle Guy, Maurice Harkless, Holmes, Hassan Whiteside, and maybe even Chris Silva hit the free agent market. Guy is set to become a restricted free agent and Silva has a team option the Kings can pick up this offseason.

Moreover, Holmes, Harkless, and Whiteside should be the names that stick out to the Bulls if they want to look into any Kings players that are set to be free agents this summer. Holmes sticks out in particular since he had a really solid run as a breakthrough big man with the Kings over the course of the last two seasons.

In 53 starts and 53 games played this season with the Kings, Holmes averaged 14.3 points per game, 8.7 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 0.6 steals, and 1.6 blocks. And he’s shot 64.3 percent from the field, 20.0 percent from beyond the arc, and a much improved 79.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Holmes has emerged as one of the most underrated big men in the NBA, and he could help any frontcourt rotation woes the Bulls have beyond center duo of star Nikola Vucevic and Daniel Theis heading into next season.
