On the night of April 5, fans of the Chicago Bulls will see their team have an off day. The Bulls aren’t back in action on the hardwood until April 6, when they travel to take on their divisional foe Indiana Pacers at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. First-year head coach Billy Donovan and the Bulls will be looking to move their winning streak to two games against the Pacers later on this week.
A focus for now for first-year executive vice president of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas and general manager Marc Eversley can turn their attention, for the time being, to the postseason at the college hoops ranks. The highly anticipated National Championship Game between two No. 1 seeds in the “Big Dance” is set to take place on the night of April 5.
The National Championship Game will feature the Gonzaga Bulldogs and head coach Mark Few taking on head coach Scott Drew and the Baylor Bears. Gonzaga had one of the most improbable buzzer beaters, and unforgettable moments simultaneously, in NCAA Tournament history in the Final Four.
The Bulldogs hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer to beat the 11-seed UCLA Bruins and head coach Mick Cronin in a Final Four meeting over the weekend to take the 93-90 overtime win.
And the Bears dominated the two-seed Houston Cougars over the weekend by nearly a 20-point margin to reach the National Championship Game.
What to takeaway in the title game for the Chicago Bulls?
Tip-off time between Gonzaga and Baylor is set for 8:20 p.m. CT on April 5. It will be a tremendous scouting opportunity for teams like the Bulls looking to figure out what a draft board could look like this year. Although, the Bulls did part ways with their 2021 first round draft pick at the trade deadline to land star big man Nikola Vucevic.
This could still be a good chance for the Bulls’ new front office regime to see a team that has a lot of underrated upperclassmen prospects for this NBA Draft class like Baylor. The Bulls do still hold their first round pick lottery-protected if it’s inside the top four this year. And they have a second round pick still in the 2021 draft.
With that in mind, here’s a look at three NBA Draft prospects for the Bulls to watch in the National Championship Game on April 5 between Baylor and Gonzaga.
