Chicago Bulls: Patrick Williams already putting entire NBA on notice
What makes Patrick Williams so special?
At just 19 years old he has grown man-size and strength that is unlike any player his young age. His dedication to want to get better at such a young age is unique.
What makes him more amazing, is he is only a rookie and has taken full responsibility for the Bulls terrible defense as of late. He strives to get better each and every game. Williams uses every game as a learning lesson, leaving each and every game better than the last.
Chicago Bulls rookie forward Patrick Williams talked about his mindset when it comes to how he plays defense. He has high expectations for himself
"Patrick Williams: “The player I want to be in this league, I want to guard guys like that (Devin Booker) every night…I just wasn’t physical. I let him get comfortable too often. That’s on me…”"
He has already earned the nickname “Paw” for his impressive and freakish athleticism. In the game on March 25, he showed that explosiveness with maybe the best block of the season on Deandre Ayton against the Phoenix Suns.
Call it the block heard around the world! Williams is always making veteran plays on the defensive end. Poking loose balls reading the defense as a true All-Defensive player does. This young man has no ceiling and will find himself catapulting himself to the next level with his determined mindset.
He also has a polished offensive arsenal. Williams has a slick jumper and a very underrated mid-range game. He can shoot the three and can create his own shot off the dribble. Williams can drive with either hand and finish in multiple ways. Moving without the basketball is one of his specialties that do not show up on the stat sheet.
As the Bulls start to utilize him more his stock will keep rising. He was an NBA Eastern Conference Rookie player of the month nominee for the month of March. Not bad for the quiet rookie. Just a sample size of what’s next to come from the first-year rookie.
Although his face rarely shows any emotion, he wears his emotions on his sleeve. Leaving it all on the floor every single game. He works hard and anyone who doubted this lottery pick better rethink that decision. He has already become one of the NBA’s best lockdown defenders.
