2) Chicago Bulls who had the best 2020

Coby White, Point Guard

Another good example of a player who had a poor start to last season, but turned it around greatly after the turn of the calendar year from 2019 to 2020 was then rookie 6-foot-5 point guard Coby White. Down the stretch last season, White got scorching hot, especially on the offensive end of the floor. It was just a shame that his rookie campaign was called short just as he was finding his rhythm.

The 20-year-old former North Carolina Tar Heel White did enough down the stretch last season to even convince this new front office regime and coaching staff that he should be the starting point guard at the outset of this regular season. The problem is that White is off to a rather poor start this season, as he’s rhythm looks to be pretty far off.

Through three games played this season (all of which he started in), White is actually the minutes leaders for the Bulls. He’s played in just north of 30 minutes per game to start this season out. White is the only Bulls player right now that has played in more than 30 minutes per game this season.

And White is averaging 13.7 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 0.7 steals, 0.3 blocks, and a whopping 3.3 turnovers, through three games. He’s shot 35.0 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from beyond the arc, and is perfect from the charity stripe.

What got White on this list was his stellar play down the stretch during his rookie campaign. After the All-Star Break last season, he averaged 24.7 points per game, 3.8 rebounds, and 4.3 assists, while shooting 46.8 percent from the field, 40.7 percent from beyond the arc, and 89.5 percent from the free-throw line. White needs to get back into that rhythm to get going this season.
