Chicago Bulls: 3 veterans that could be signed to a G-League roster
2) Chicago Bulls veteran targets that could sign in G-League
Chandler Parsons, Small Forward
An eternal quest for teams to find the pre-injury version of the now 32-year-old Casselberry, FL, native small forward Chandler Parsons didn’t lead to much in the last few seasons. A bloated contract for Parsons, worth around $25 million when it finally rounded out, finally came to an end heading into this past offseason.
Maybe some extended time off is exactly what Parsons needed to get his body right and his game back on track, to some degree at least. Parsons is a bit older now, and his game will likely never be what it was during his pre-injury hay day with the Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks. The Memphis Grizzlies and Hawks never got that version of Parsons that was so efficient in the modern NBA.
Parsons did get to play in five games during the shortened 2019-20 regular season with the Hawks (none of which he started in). And he averaged just 2.8 points per game, 1.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 0.8 steals, and 0.2 blocks. Parsons shot 27.8 percent from the field, 28.6 percent from beyond the arc, and didn’t get any attempts from the charity stripe.
The risks are low for Parsons to attempt a G-League run this season. Maybe he could get back some of the form he showed around the early-to-mid 2010’s.
For his career in the NBA that has spanned nine years up to this point, Parsons was able to play in 440 regular season games. He averaged 12.7 points per game, 4.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.3 blocks. And Parsons shot a solid 46.2 percent from the field, 37.3 percent from beyond the arc, and 71.3 percent from the free-throw line.
