Any possibility that the Chicago Bulls would be able to look into trading for a superstar of the magnitude of Houston Rockets guard James Harden is huge.
If there is any shot for the Chicago Bulls to swing for the fences and land a true superstar anytime in the near future, it is something they should do without hesitation. Short of mortgaging their entire future to get a superstar, the Bulls really need to do everything in their power to get that type of player to the Windy City.
And it does help that the Bulls retooled the front office, coaching staff, and scouting department, through the offseason so far to give it a new and improved look. The Bulls now have Arturas Karnisovas as their executive vice president of basketball operations and Marc Eversley as general manager. They also lured former Oklahoma City Thunder and Florida Gators hoops head coach Billy Donovan to Chicago to replace now former head coach Jim Boylen.
If the Bulls do get a few looks as a potential improved destination for stars in the Eastern Conference, who should they try and target?
Two names that are constantly getting thrown around this offseason among those superstars that teams could try and swing for the fences for are the Milwaukee Bucks back-to-back forward MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo and Houston Rockets guard James Harden. Since there is so much change going on with the Rockets and the Bucks were upset by the Miami Heat, there could be a lot of changes to each roster in the current offseason.
Apparently since the Rockets got rid of now former head coach Mike D’Antoni, there could be traction elsewhere to try and lure Harden away from Space City. A recent report from NBC Sports also mentioned that we can’t put it past Rockets general manager Daryl Morey to trade Harden in the right deal this offseason.
If this is the case, then the Bulls should at least look into what they could get out of a potential Harden deal. Here’s a look into three possible packages that might be able to make that happen.
