Standout Chicago White Sox starting pitcher Lucas Giolito was seen on Twitter wearing a Chicago Bulls jersey after his Aug. 25 no-hitter.

Chicago Bulls long-time owner Jerry Reinsdorf is also the owner of the MLB’s Chicago White Sox. There are plenty of commonalities to be noticed between the two organizations. A lot of the gripes that baseball (at least the south siders) and basketball fans have alike have existed for both Reinsdorf-owned teams.

But hopefully both Bulls and White Sox fans will be able to enjoy more successful years in the near future as each organization spent much of the last three years in rebuild mode. During this unusual shortened MLB season, in the midst of the novel coronavirus pandemic, the White Sox are actually finding a good amount of success. The White Sox have a 18-12 record as of the morning of Aug. 26, and are in a playoff position currently in the American League standings.

They got some recent hep from a nice performance on Aug. 25 from starting pitcher Lucas Giolito, who snagged the first no-hitter of his career in an eventual White Sox win. After the game, Giolito was seen sporting his own No. 27 Bulls jersey in multiple posts on social media.

The Bulls are really getting some nice publicity in different parts of the sports world in the last 24 hours. Giolito was shown wearing this Bulls jersey after his no-hitter, and Chicago’s social media team had a comical post involving FC Barcelona soccer superstar Lionel Messi in an edited jersey on Aug. 25.

But Giolito was able to pitch a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts and just one walk in a win on Tuesday night over the lowly Pittsburgh Pirates. The White Sox came out on top by the final score of 4-0. This was also the fourth complete game of Giolito’s career and the third shutout.

The one-time MLB All-Star selection now has a record of 3-2 with a 3.09 earned run average after pitching a no-hitter against the Pirates. He also has 0.8 wins above replacement on the shortened season.

dark. Next. Should Bulls pursue Nate McMillan for HC?

Next up for the White Sox is an Aug. 26 showdown against the Pirates to round out the second of this two-game series. At least while the Bulls had an early exit to the 2019-20 season, after posting a poor record of 22-43, any common fans of the White Sox will have something to root for.
