No. 5. Bobby Portis

Bobby Portis will be suiting up for the New York Knicks after signing a one-year, $15 million contract with the team in 2019 free agency.

The former Bulls star’s decision comes in the wake of playing for the Bulls and the Washington Wizards last season.

Contract details show the Knicks have included a club option for the 2020-2021 season, should both parties want to remain together beyond the 2019-2020 season.

It’s expected that the Knicks will give Portis a good look for at least the next year while the team looks to develop some chemistry amongst its young core.

The Knicks notably added several big men in the 2019 offseason after failing to attract and sign Kevin Durant to a contract. None of the big men on the Knicks roster last year that became available during free agency remain with the team. As such, it remains unclear if the Knicks will remain invested in Portis beyond the 2019-2020 season.

Still, at age 24, Portis makes for a solid acquisition for a rebuilding franchise that is looking to develop a young core.

Portis has a lot of the skills and abilities that a modern big should have in the league. He can shoot the three-pointer comfortably. He has developed a bit of a post-up game.
