Chicago Bulls: 5 biggest early 2021 prize free agent targets
Not even Kawhi could compare to the amount of attention and pursuit that the reigning NBA MVP could receive come the 2021 summer. The Milwaukee Bucks ultra-lengthy and talented superstar forward Giannis Antetokounmpo was one step away from reaching the NBA Finals this past season.
Giannis will get the most attention and money that any player could possibly receive in 2021 if his health and development holds up at the pace it is now. No one can tell what will happen between now and then, but he’s about as sure as a sure thing will get for that cycle of free agency.
The final year of Antetokounmpo’s current four-year contract will see him make slightly more than $27 million. He’ll become an unrestricted free agent as he’s just beginning to enter his prime at 26-years-old in 2021. The value that he will bring to the table should come close to matching, if not surpassing, what LeBron James brought to the Heat back in 2010.
The Bulls could keep Giannis around in the Central Division and give him the option to go to a much more storied big market franchise than he has with the Bucks. GarPax will need to start making moves now, though, since the Bucks are already doing so. The Bucks signed Giannis’ brother, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, to likely try and make moves ahead of 2021.
