6. Cameron Payne

Cameron Payne was originally acquired by the Bulls in a 2017 multi-player trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Bulls organization wanted to take a close look at the former first-round draft pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Interestingly enough, Payne was likely more known at the time for his dance moves than his basketball skills.

Payne’s time with the Bulls was enigmatic, to put it simply. He struggled to play the point guard position, demonstrating at times more of an affinity to playing off-ball. As such, Payne struggled to crack the rotation as the Bulls sought to find an answer at the starting point guard position. When he did get floor time, Payne did not always make the most of his opportunities.

Among the highlights of Payne’s time in the Windy City is an Oct. 24, 2018 game at which point he scored a career-high 21 points in the second half in a win over the Charlotte Hornets.

Since being waived by the Bulls, Payne has agreed to two, 10-day contracts with the Cleveland Cavaliers. It is there Payne played nine games to close out the remainder of the 2018-2019 season.

It remains unclear what type of market is available for Payne heading into free agency this summer.
