Chicago Bulls Blurbs: The Pre-SummerBulls Edition
It’s been a couple of weeks, but we’re back with Chicago Bulls Blurbs here at Pippen Ain’t Easy. In this pre-Summer League of Bulls Blurbs, we’ll glance at some of the best content across the web from this past week.
Our sincerest apologies for taking some time away from Chicago Bulls Blurbs in recent weeks, but with all of the madness going on with the Bulls and throughout the NBA, we got a bit sidetracked with things.
Something big happened recently and it was worth discussing. I don’t know if you missed it or anything, but Jimmy Butler isn’t with the Bulls anymore. Like, seriously. He’s in Minnesota now. He didn’t just move there. He plays for Tom Thibodeau and the Timberwolves. I swear!
In this edition of Chicago Bulls Blurbs, we’ll take a look back at how cool Jimmy Butler was to watch as a member of the Bulls, along with a look ahead to the SummerBulls’ title defense in Vegas and an old friend of the Bulls back in the spotlight again.
So, without any further adieu, let’s get into this week’s Bulls Blurbs, starting with Mr. Buckets himself.
Our farewell to Jimmy Butler: BlogABull’s favorite moments of buckets – (@Tyler_Pleiss, @Bulls_Jay and @VJVemu)
Some of the guys at SB Nation‘s Blog a Bull got together and picked out their favorite moments of Jimmy Butler during his time with the Bulls. It’s a good list of moments and probably includes one of your own personal favorites of Jimmy Buckets becoming one of the league’s best players over the last handful of years. (This list was technically from last week, but it’s a good list of memories from Butler in Chicago.)

Nikola Mirotic facing tight free-agent market as talks with Bulls continue – (@highkin)
The curious case of Nikola Mirotic continues for the Bulls. The expectation is that he will re-sign with the Bulls (or they’ll match virtually every offer presented to him in restricted free agency).
The question is, what will the money look like for him? Cap space isn’t exactly a problem for the Bulls if Dwyane Wade changes his mind on his player option and the front office looks to move Robin Lopez, but if those things don’t happen, Mirotic’s paychecks won’t be as high as he probably wants.
What to watch for from young Bulls during summer league – (@StephNoh)
Our good friend Stephen Noh at The Athletic Chicago had a nice breakdown of what you should be watching for with some players as the Las Vegas Summer League is set to begin this weekend for the SummerBulls. The defending champions will have a little bit different looking roster this time around in Vegas, but some of the more familiar faces (and some fresh faces) will be donning the red and black.
Cristiano Felicio ready for bigger role if that’s what Bulls rebuild needs – (@KCJHoop)
If you haven’t purchased boat fare to Felicio Island, it’s not too late to bring your family and friends along for the ride for the new $32 million man from Brazil. The Bulls did a good thing in signing Felicio. The curious situation is, now that the Bulls are rebuilding for the future, Felicio could become the man in the middle with a likely Robin Lopez move coming. Lopez isn’t on the Bulls’ future timeline and with the new contract, Felicio could be in line for a much bigger role moving forward.
Former Bull Horace Grant will appear on ‘Celebrity Family Feud’ on Sunday – (@terrinvictoria)
The most important news of the week came from the Chicago Tribune, but no … it wasn’t from K.C. Johnson. Terrin Waack hit on former Chicago Bulls forward Horace Grant participating on Celebrity Family Feud this coming weekend for the NBA legend team. Other names on the NBA team are Gary Payton, Muggsy Bogues, James Worthy and Robert Horry.

The Chicago Bulls kick off their title defense in Las Vegas on Saturday, July 8 at 3:30 p.m. CT against the Dallas Mavericks. You’ll be able to catch new draft pick Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn, Paul Zipser and Denzel Valentine off his offseason ankle scope.
