Dwyane Wade still has something to offer the Chicago Bulls
Dwyane Wade is one of the most accomplished guards in NBA history and he’s also got a major decision to make about his future with the Chicago Bulls. He’s done it all, but he has a decision to make: Opt in with Chicago for the biggest payday of his career or take his talents elsewhere in favor of chasing one more championship.
Wade has a crazy resume as a basketball player. He was the 2006 NBA Finals MVP, has appeared in 12 All-Star Games, has three NBA championships under his belt, was on the All-Rookie Team, three appearances on the All-NBA Defensive second team, two appearances on the All-NBA first team, and a bunch of other cool stuff.
There’s more! Wade is fifth among active players in value over replacement player (VORP), ninth among active players in win shares, and he has a 100 percent probability to make the Hall of Fame. Trying to absorb all the things that he has done as a player, particularly among shooting guards, is just incredible.

However, there’s a more important resume that I want to talk about today. You see, Wade can still play 60 or so games a year, and if you combine the career totals of Michael Carter-Williams, Isaiah Canaan, Jerian Grant, Cameron Payne, Bobby Portis and Denzel Valentine, I’d bet that Wade’s numbers and accomplishments will still dwarf them in their entirety. But, he’s got something more important to offer than what he’ll do on the court in 2017-18.
The resume that matters right now is his fashion resume. And there’s still one thing that Wade can bring the Bulls that no one else seems prepared to champion. Dwyane can bring Chicago the RompHim.
Wade has shown up in Paris for Fashion Week. I’m sure he has a Givenchy collection so massive it needs its own storage unit. As soon as he retires from the NBA, he probably starts working with Louis Vitton on the regular. If you think I’m making this up, you either have no idea who Wade is or you live under a rock or you have terrible fashion sense and fear well-dressed men. I feel sorry for you in any case.
There is plenty of evidence to support Wade as the hero of the RompHim that Gar Forman needs. He did a heavily fashion-oriented Q&A with Sports Illustrated in April, there’s a hit on USA Today’s For The Win on his work in the Chicago community with youth and fashion, this fascinating read from GQ on Wade and his partnership with Amazon, and there’s an entire section on his website, dwyanewade.com, just for style, called Style.
Most important, this wouldn’t be the first time that Dwyane would be seen in a romper. Behold:
Wade was already featured in a romper for Esquire Magazine in 2015. Of course, Twitter tried to roast him. But newsflash to the haters, it’s 2017 and Wade is ready to take the Bulls, nay the entire world, by storm. It’s time for him to make one last significant contribution to the team that could be on the hook for a salary of $23.8 million next season. It’s time for Wade in the RompHim.
