Jimmy Butler chooses silence

This is both just fine and extremely disappointing.

I think Jimmy likes to be funny. And sometimes he is funny. He was a delight to watch and read quotes from during his Olympic excursion last summer. Particularly, his football aspirations.

But nope. He didn’t bring a dog. He didn’t wear a dumb sweatsuit and gold jewelry with his own name on it. He wasn’t all smiles, holding his favorite football. And no, he wasn’t there to talk about his role with the team next year.

And while I wish he had a dog or reverted to that terribly corny phase of referring to himself in the third person for all the LOLs it would bring me, I’m so happy he skipped media.

We all know who Jimmy is and what he has done for this team. He’s the best Bull since Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen. Also, I think American football sucks. That was a win for me, I’ve heard way too much about whoever Mitch Trub-whatever it is. Last thing I wanted was some football talk. It’s NBA playoff season, let’s focus.

And that’s the other reason that I’m fine with not hearing from Butler. He talked after Game 6, he’ll be back in Chicago next season, and he’s probably worn out and very frustrated that they couldn’t put the Celtics away after such a great start to the series.
