Even if it was massive blowout of a very checked-out Orlando Magic squad, it still didn’t lock up a spot in the playoffs for the Chicago Bulls. That will have to wait until Wednesday and Game 82, the final game of the season.
Yes, this game went so well for Chicago that it was almost boring. I don’t want to dump too much on what is clearly an already down Orlando squad, but that was maybe the worst basketball I have watched all season.
When you see a team that is just waiting for summer to start at the end of a long, grueling stretch of losing, it’s hard to imagine them putting up much of a fight against a team that is fighting for their playoff life. That’s the exact kind of matchup that we witnessed on Monday night.

Winning is good, though some instances of winning are better than others. This was a very good win for the Bulls. They are now 40-41 on the season with just one game left to play. The Miami Heat are also 40-41, and the Indiana Pacers are 41-40. All of them play on Wednesday. And if you want even more hoops excitement, the Boston Celtics play the Milwaukee Bucks with seeding on the line and the Pacers game is with the Atlanta Hawks who will need a win to stay ahead of Milwaukee for the fifth seed.
Clearly, there’s a lot to look forward to on Wednesday, but before we get there it’s time to take a look back at the absolute stomping Chicago put on the Magic.
