Shooting Guard Grades

Hey, it’s been great in this world. Or it hasn’t. Either way. The good news is that the Chicago Fire acquired a legend, and one of my very favorite soccer players of all-time last week. He is Bastian Schweinsteiger and he’s easily one of the best midfielders of his generation. Why am I talking about this? Because he is German and he is a product of Bayern Munich. They are one of the four or five best soccer clubs in the entire world. They also have a basketball team. Paul Zipser played for that basketball team and there are pictures on the internet of Schweini and Zip together. Bringing in Schweinsteiger is all about the soccer, he scored a goal in his first match, just days after arriving. However, it’ll also do some good for the young Zipser. That’s my take, deal with it.

Paul Zipser – Grade: C-

All of that said, Zipser struggled last week. He’s still getting a lot of minutes and that is probably one of my favorite things about this season. His shooting numbers are down, his scoring is down and he’s struggling on both ends of the floor at times. But, he’s not always lost and never completely lost which is both impressive and exciting. I’m already looking forward to Year 2 of Zipser.

Jerian Grant – Grade: F

Grant got one game and three minutes. I’m not in on him at this point, think he’s not showing anything that you can’t get out of a Spencer Dinwiddie or E’twuan Moore. Next.

Dwyane Wade – Grade: A

D-Wade definitely gets an ‘A’ this time around. Why? Because the Bulls are doing an awesome job of winning without him and the stats bore this out throughout the year. He’s a drag on the squad, but could help in free agent recruiting. I don’t know who he’s bringing in, but paying him $23 million to do it is laugh out loud levels of wow. The man is a legend, but his rest to recover from an injury and not being hurried back is the best thing for this team right now.
