Point Guard Grades

It’s always hard to deal with the point guard position. So glad that this season of point guard limbo is over. Of course, when the front office elects to re-up on Rajon Rondo for next season, we probably get to do this again. Also, maybe PG won’t mean point guard anymore, but instead it can be “pretty gross.”

Michael Carter-Williams – Grade: C-

Carter-Williams found his way to the court for 12.5 minutes per contest over three games, putting in three points per contest and generally being MCW. He had five points against the Hawks and six assists against the Pelicans, but the rest of his numbers were not that great. He’s faring better than a lot of other guards on this roster, but it’s a bleak outlook for him.

Rajon Rondo – Grade: B+

Rondo averaged a double-double over the last three games. That’s kind of incredible. 14 points, 10 assists per game. Oh, and Rondo the defender? That guy isn’t ever fully coming back, but Rajon did snag 2.7 steals per game last week, too. As Hoiberg’s rotation at point guard tightens up, Rondo is getting 35 minutes per game.

More from Pippen Ain't Easy

Isaiah Canaan – Grade: Plz Halp

Sip is just gone. I love that he gets to dress for some games, but he’s definitely not playing in any of them.

Cameron Payne – Grade: F

I don’t want to harbor resentment for Payne, so I won’t. He’s just a really bad acquisition and Gar Forman should pay for that move with his job. Maybe he still ends up being something in the league, I’m not going to rule it out, but I am beyond unimpressed with anything he does. By the way, the things he does are get inactives and play in the D-League. Dude, bad.
