Your move, Danny Ainge
This is kind of useless, but I’ll have a go at it anyway.
I don’t want Jimmy to be gone. He’s the best Bull by a mile. Without him, this team is a dumpster fire of Brooklyn Nets proportions.
Still, I want to know exactly what it is that is keeping Chicago GM Gar Forman and Boston GM Danny Ainge from figuring this out.
News for Celtics world – your team is pretty good, but not good enough.
News for John Paxson world – this team isn’t getting anything accomplished and you don’t know how to draft unless the No. 1 falls into your lap.
I’ve already written a ton of words on this, but Boston just took an ‘L’ from Butler. I don’t have the answers and I have no inside information, but I really want it. Which side is unwilling to part with the necessary pieces?
On the TNT broadcast tonight, one of the commentators said that Ainge shouldn’t be looking to acquire a player like Butler. Part of his reasoning was keeping their draft picks this summer. My question would be – do you expect any current college freshman to join the NBA next year and be the piece that pushes a team past the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference? That’s not happening.

How long can Isaiah Thomas maintain his current form? The rest of this season looks probable. Then what? Al Hoford is good, but he’s getting older. Unless Ainge is going to figuring out how to put that on hold or reverse it, the clock is ticking. There are very few players that figure to be available on the free agent market this summer and among those players, there are almost none that would be interested in the Celtics and also could make the kind of impact Boston needs if they want to push for contender status with this iteration of the team.
Rumors, and nothing more, say that Ainge won’t part with the No. 1 pick in any trades. If that is true, enjoy not making a Finals with this roster this season, next season, or any other season unless LeBron is out of the picture.
It’s your move, Danny Ainge. I feel like Forman is ready to lose a trade, let’s find out what everyone wants and where their priorities are as the trade deadline looms.
