With Rondo out , coach Fred Hoiberg elected to give Dinwiddie his first start with the Bulls.
Unfortunately, Dinwiddie couldn’t make the most of it. He finished the game with four points, two assists, and four rebounds in 18 minutes. He also had three turnovers and four personal fouls.

Dinwiddie played with a high level of intensity similar to what we saw Thursday night against the Pacers, but this time, he was a non-factor. Still, despite a poor performance tonight, Dinwiddie will almost certainly be on the roster come Halloween, and he’ll be fighting for minutes in the rotation alongside Grant and Canaan.
In addition to facing stiff competition for the backup point guard position, Dinwiddie would also do well to take care of his body. The explosive guard uses his athleticism to rise to rim often. However, late in a blowout win over the Indiana Pacers during the preseason is not the time to be risking injury when he has all but guaranteed himself a spot on the NBA roster. The Bulls have seen what happens to point guards who go too hard late in games that don’t matter, Dinwiddie doesn’t need to add himself to that list.
