After a summer without postseason play, the Chicago Bulls look to take home-court advantage tonight against their division rival, the Milwaukee Bucks.

Next: Over/Under projections for the Chicago Bulls

At this point in time a year ago, the Chicago Bulls kicked off their preseason schedule playing the Milwaukee Bucks, and won.

Déjà vu? Let’s hope so.

The two clubs squared off last on April 3, which the Bulls won. Neither team qualified for the playoffs in 2016.

It’s been more than five months since the Bulls appeared in real game action, not to forget to mention the squad features a new-look roster after a plethora of offseason changes.

The locker room includes a number of new faces, including:

Monday brings two teams that failed to stay above .500 facing one another. The magic of playing at home is, knowing the Bulls have the crowd to lean against for support in their preseason opener.

It shouldn’t be forgotten how the Bucks made a number of changes through free agency this summer. Most notably, the squad acquired Michael Beasley, Matthew Dellavedova and Miles Plumlee. Fans remember the additions of Michael Carter-Williams and Greg Monroe last year.

To this point, those acquisitions have failed to meet expectation. But, the newest additions are hoped to help the Bucks improve as they start another season. If all pans out according to plan, the hope is they can return to the playoffs after missing out last year.

More from Bulls News

Jason Kidd returns as the head coach for the Bucks. In his third year, he serves as one of several members of a franchise that has a lot to prove this season.

Bulls head coach Fred Hoiberg also has a lot to prove this season in his second year. Hoiberg and his squad need to work on developing a sense of chemistry early on. It wasn’t until last season that fans started seeing Jimmy Butler emerge as the go-to guy.

But, with the departure of Derrick Rose and the addition of Rondo and Wade, Butler finds himself pegged as one-third of what the team calls the “Three Alphas”—none of which has proven they can shoot from deep all too well.

Still, it remains unclear which one of the Bulls stars will cap off the starting lineup introductions, and that could prove to be problematic for a team with three main stars.

The bottom line is that no matter where the points come from, the Bulls need to find a way to make buckets. Every game from this point forward will be crucial in shaping the squad’s identity, albeit ugly as it may appear on paper.
