5. Donald Sloan
An off-guard candidate who can shoot and pass is former Brooklyn Nets guard Donald Sloan. The 6’3”, 205-pound back-up also shot 38.4 percent from deep and had his best PER as a pro last year.

The caveat?
He’s only shot better than 32 percent in two of his five NBA seasons. So, is the 38.4 percent margin a mirage or is it a sign of things to come? At 28 years old, he probably doesn’t have much room to grow. He’s at or approaching his peak right now.
Playing in a career-high 21.7 minutes, including a career-high 33 starts, Sloan averaged seven points, 4.4 assists (a career high) and 2.8 rebounds a night. Assuming he can keep that shooting stroke and deft passing touch, Sloan could be a useful off-guard contingency plan, depending on Jerian Grant’s readiness to contribute.
Like many names dotting the Bulls’ roster at present, Donald Sloan is not a particularly good defender (ranked 50th in real defensive plus-minus among point guards, below Rondo and Calderon), but you’d be signing him for his light minutes tally (just 3,749, fairly minimal for a 28-year-old since he bounced around so much), his passing and his shooting. He can finish around the basket competently and last season was a solid sniper from beyond 16 feet.
