OK, let’s be honest. The whole Scottie Pippen-Shaquille O’Neal Instagram feud recently was actually pretty funny, and it sparked some fun debates in the NBA world during the summer dead period. But now, Shaq just won’t let things go, and it’s ruining all the fun.
All it took was one photo posted by Shaquille O’Neal on his Instagram account recently to spark a worldwide debate.

O’Neal recently posted a photo of five Chicago Bulls legends and five Los Angeles Lakers legends, and his caption mentioned that his Lakers would be the Bulls lineup by 50. (Yes, that reads 50. As in fifty.)
The photo found former Bulls great Scottie Pippen, and the feud was on.
Pippen and O’Neal went back and forth, both taking jabs at the other during their career. Pippen mentioned that he won six rings against O’Neal’s five, while O’Neal claimed that Pippen was nothing more than Michael Jordan’s sidekick.
On Monday, O’Neal continued to take stabs at Pippen during the “The Big Podcast with Shaq”. Anathan Panadin of CBS Sports transcribed O’Neal’s thoughts (along with a user from Reddit), and his thoughts were rather … bad.
"“I didn’t even make the picture. Some other little guy made the picture so I just took it. It was the five best Lakers and the five best Bulls and I said we’ll beat them by 50. That’s how I feel and I’m sticking to it. I didn’t say ‘Hey @ScottiePippen we will beat you guys by 50.’ ‘Hey @Rodman we will beat you guys by.’ I just said, I’ll beat you by 50.Now, he made it personal when he said, ‘@Shaq I don’t believe in hypotheticals.’ He swung first so I’m going to swing second and I’m going to swing last. Because I don’t let bums disrespect me. Yeah, he was a great player but I’m the bridge, he’s the water. He will always be under me. Every now and then he will rise to the occasion to get to the same level as the bridge but when reality kicks in, I’m bridge, he is water, he is under me. Scottie Pippen can’t disrespect me.He made it personal when he put @Shaq, we got six rings like he was the main focus of the six rings. You were not the main focus of the six rings. Don’t make me pull up the scouting report. You wasn’t even a factor on the scouting report. It was all about Mike.”"
Sure, Shaq. A seven-time All-Star and a member of the NBA’s 50 Greatest Players is a “bum”.
There’s no denying that Shaq’s one of the greatest big men in NBA history, but the blatant disrespect of an all-time great like Pippen isn’t really necessary.
The whole feud was funny at first (similar to the whole Drake-Meek Mill beef as of late in the music world), but now, Shaq just seems like a crazy ex that won’t let things go.
