A Current Playoff Projection for the Chicago Bulls

Sometimes it is fun to look ahead a bit. If the NBA playoffs started today, then who would win the Eastern Conference? It is a tough question that the Chicago Bulls feature prominently in. Here are the current matchups based on the standings as of today with a prediction for who would win each series and the Conference.

More from Bulls News

Hawks (1) vs Hornets (8)

The Hawks would roll on the Hornets with relative ease. This series might be over quite quickly, and Atlanta would gladly send Michael Jordan‘s team home in four quick games.

Raptors (2) vs Heat (7)

Upset special! This is an intriguing matchup that I hope we end up seeing. The Heat would win this in seven games based partly on Dwyane Wade‘s current state of health and also on Chris Bosh‘s fire going against his former team.

Wizards (3) vs Bucks (6)

All due respect must be given to Jason Kidd for his masterful job with the Milwaukee Bucks, but the Washington Wizards would have no issues in this series. DC in five games.

Bulls (4) vs Cavs (5)

The Bulls currently have home court in this one, but would they be able to contain LeBron James? These might just be the two best teams in the conference when the playoffs arrive, and so it would be surprising to see this matchup in the first round. With a gun to my head, I’d uneasily pick the Bulls in seven games. On to the semis!

Hawks (1) vs Bulls (4)

In a semifinal between the Bulls and the Hawks, I actually like Chicago’s chances. Atlanta would pose some problems on the offensive end for Tom Thibodeau and company, but Derrick Rose and Jimmy Butler could get many easy baskets against these guys. It would be a competitive series, but my pick is the Bulls in six games.

Wizards (3) vs Heat (7)

Between the Heat and Wizards, I would have to choose John Wall and company. If the Heat had any PG who could chase Wall around, then it would definitely be a different story. DC in five games.

Now for the premier matchup.

Wizards (3) vs Bulls (4)

Washington could end up playing Chicago in the first round should the Cavs continue their latest hot streak, and it seems likely that the Bulls and Wiz will meet again at some point. Joakim Noah is probably still angry about the way last season ended, and this would be an ideal opportunity to redeem things. My pick is the Bulls in seven games.

The West is just too complicated right now for me to make a pick, and so do not force me! I may do a whole bracket once the seeds are set, but this road trip seems like a good time to evaluate where the Bulls currently stand.
