I know it’s the NBA Playoffs, and that means the best team usually wins. So if you get overly excited after two home wins against a .500 team the “sophisticated” NBA community attacks you like you are Charles Barkley talking about analytics, but…. (wait for it) the Bulls were amazing these first two games. Even if they didn’t blow the Bucks away, who didn’t have a ton of fun watching those games? It has been so gloom and doom following the Bulls the last three years, I was just refreshed watching the players and crowd exuberant. I watch basketball because it is entertaining. I don’t think anyone that watched those games and likes basketball wasn’t entertained. Here are five things that stood out:

1. Tom Thibodeau is smarter than us. And may be smarter than the Spurs too

“Sophisticated” NBA fan: “The Bulls go too hard during the regular season. Tom Thibodeau and the team treat every game like it is Game 7 in the playoffs. They don’t have another level to go to because Thibodeau makes the players give everything they have at all times. They should have rested their players to get a lower seed and avoid playing the Cavaliers in the second round. That is what the Spurs would have done and the Spurs are the best”

I’m sorry “Sophisticated” NBA Fan that the Bulls didn’t use their bench enough during the regular season. They should have sat their players and tried to take the regular season less seriously like the “Sophisticated” NBA Fan’s favorite team, the Spurs. The Spurs are in a much better position.

Since the Spurs are so smart, they knew that it was better to rest their players and have a no. 6 seed instead of playing hard and fighting for a no. 3 seed. And after losing Game 1 to the Clippers, who were on a 15-1 run before last night, the Spurs are still going to be one of the less than 20 percent of teams that win a playoff series because rest is more important than home court advantage. And after that series they are going to beat the Rockets and Warriors in consecutive series because home court doesn’t matter—all that matters is rest. It’s not like an NBA head coach just said the Warriors’ stadium gets so loud that he thinks it is illegal. That didn’t happen. The Spurs will definitely beat the Warriors in Oracle Arena because they are better rested. And after that they are going to be the third team EVER to be lower than a no. 3 seed to win the title.

Man, I wish the Bulls were as smart as the Spurs. If only they could be in the Spurs’ position, then they could have an actual chance to win the title. Thibodeau should be fired so the Bulls can get a coach more like Greg Popovich. Thibs has no idea what he doing. Having the 13th highest winning percentage ever for an NBA coach doesn’t mean anything.
