When does DeMar DeRozan make his homecoming to the United Center?
DeMar DeRozan built his NBA career during his time with the Toronto Raptors. He reinvented himself as a member of the San Antonio Spurs.
He resurfaced as a superstar during his time with the Chicago Bulls.
DeRozan was an All-Star each of his three seasons in Chicago. His last All-Star berth prior to that came in his final season in Toronto in 2017-18.
He was Second Team All-NBA in 2021-22, one of three seasons in which he made an All-NBA team during his 15-year career. He scored a career-high 27.9 points per game that year and shot a career-best 35.2 percent from three.
He was Chicago's best and most important player for three consecutive seasons and his numbers went up across the board from his three seasons spent in San Antonio.
DeRozan went from one of the best scorers and mid-range shooters in the NBA during his time with the Raptors to an afterthought with the Spurs and back to one of the league's most recognized bucket-getters, one worth almost $25 million per year now at age 35.
The Bulls are transitioning into a new phase of the organization. At his age and with his ability to help a team win now, DeRozan was no longer a fit in Chicago.
He's now a member of the Sacramento Kings as he tries to help De'Aaron Fox, Domantas Sabonis, Kris Murray and company rise from a plucky playoff team to a true Western Conference contender, but he'll always be appreciated in Chicago.
So when do Bulls fans get to see a DeRozan homecoming this year?
When will DeMar DeRozan return to the United Center in 2024-25?
DeRozan and the Kings face the Bulls twice this season, first on Jan. 12 and again on March 20.
Sacramento will head to the United Center for the Jan. 12 matchup, a Sunday afternoon game that tips off at 2:30 p.m. CT.
Chicago will head West in March to face DeRozan in his new home arena, the Golden 1 Center, for a Thursday night game with a 9 p.m. start.
