Jones’ defensive playmaking instincts would instantly earn the respect of Rockets head coach Ime Udoka. Additionally, Jones ability to consistently penetrate opposing defenses would be a great catalyst for creating better shot attempts for headlining players like Kevin Durant or their multi-dimensional big, Alperen Sengun. Would the Rockets consider swapping guard Reed Sheppard for Jones?
Dallas Mavericks
Staying in Texas, the Dallas Mavericks are a team that is relatively shallow on ball-handling when guard Kyrie Irving is not on the floor. Adding Tre Jones instantly solves that problem and might even serve as an effective stopgap solution if the Mavericks decide to move on from Irving, who will enter the final season of his contract after the 2026-27 NBA season concludes.
Golden State Warriors
The cap gymnastics for the Golden State Warriors to acquire Jones would be challenging as the franchise is on the brink of crossing into the second apron threshold of salary cap spending.
However, the impact Jones would provide to the Warriors is undeniable, as they need as much talent as they can afford to support the twilight of guard Stephen Curry’s prime.
The San Antonio Spurs pedigree Jones holds would certainly help him instantly plug into Steve Kerr’s offensive philosophy that is equal parts Gregg Popovich's Spurs beautiful basketball and equal parts Tex Winter's triangle offense.
If the Bulls were to engage the Warriors in a trade, the biggest win in return the Bulls could hope for would be getting guard Brandin Podziemski in a Bulls uniform.
