Stephen Curry might live Bulls' LeBron James dream 16 years later

The Chicago Bulls once wanted to build a LeBron James super team, but now, Stephen Curry might live that exact dream.

Just over 15 years ago, back when LeBron James was leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2010, the Chicago Bulls wanted to form a super team. They wanted to bring him and Dwyane Wade to Chicago. Well, fast forward to today, and Stephen Curry may accomplish what the Bulls never could, bringing James to the Golden State Warriors.

According to Kevin O’Connor of Yahoo Sports, the Warriors’ summer plans are to trade for Anthony Davis and sign James in free agency. Had the Bulls accomplished their goal, who knows how many titles they could have won. Now, Curry and the Warriors might have the chance to see how many they can win.

But with the current ages of James, Curry, and Davis, the answer to that is maybe one.

Warriors are building LeBron James super team Bulls always wanted

Should the Warriors succeed in their goal to bring together three of the league’s oldest stars, it would be quite the feat. It seems impossible, but at the same time, it’s very much in the realm of possibilities.

James and Curry competed against each other in the NBA Finals for years when they were on the Cavs and Warriors, but now, James may end up suiting up in the blue and gold.

First, the Warriors would have to strike a deal with the Washington Wizards, who just acquired Davis this past season. A deal would involve shipping out Jimmy Butler and probably some draft capital.

Then, they would have to convince James to sign with them in free agency, as he is currently an unrestricted free agent. The Los Angeles Lakers could try to bring him back, but Golden State may try to lure him in with Davis.

Draymond Green already declined his player option to help give the Warriors a bit more wiggle room to bring James in board in free agency, so it seems as though they are really going after this idea.

This is what the Bulls wanted. This is what they wanted to accomplish back in the day. Their biggest dream was to bring James to Chicago with his friend so they could win together.

They failed in that goal. James ended up on the Miami Heat, where he, Wade, and Chris Bosh won three straight championships. Chicago was left on the outside looking in.

Now, just over 15 years later, the Warriors are trying to do that for Curry. And it seems plausible that they could succeed in their quest.
