The Chicago Bulls could have signed Jarrett Allen

Imagine this scenario: The Bulls don’t trade for Vucevic and draft Wagner instead.

With the cap space they saved by not making that deal, they sign free agent Jarrett Allen.

Allen is not only seven years younger than Vucevic, but he’s on a cheaper deal and provides the exact skills the Bulls currently lack.

Allen is a great rebounder and rim protector and was the anchor of one of the best defenses in the league last season.

There is no guarantee the Bulls would have been able to land Allen in free agency, but he was there for the taking and wouldn’t have cost anything more than money, unlike Vucevic.

It’s fair to say the Bulls would do this differently if they could do it again, as they could have just drafted players who are currently better than Vucevic or went after a cheaper free agent option that wouldn’t have cost them any assets.
