The Chicago Bulls could make big changes this summer or they could make some moves on the fringes and try to run it back with most of the same roster.
Some fans would cringe at the idea of being in “win now” mode with a team that won 39 games this season, but letting DeMar DeRozan walk for nothing and trading Zach LaVine for peanuts would also be hard moves to stomach.
One of their biggest offseason needs is to find a center who can protect the rim. Nikola Vucevic has lost a step on defense, so if the Bulls could find a taker for the two years left on his deal while upgrading their paint defense, it’s something they’d have to consider.
Chicago Bulls rumors: Trading Nikola Vucevic
Finding a taker for the 2 years/$41 million left on Vucevic’s contract won’t be easy, but it is not impossible.
Even though his defense slipped, and his 3-point numbers dipped, he’s still a former All-Star who will get you 18 points and 10 rebounds per night. He’s durable and has shown in the past that he can be an elite shooter for the center position.
Bigs who can shoot will always have value and there are teams who would take Vucevic on if they didn’t have to break the bank to get him.
That’s what happens in the following trade in which the Bulls upgrade their rim protection in a 3-team deal that benefits everyone.
