3 X Factors that could make the Bulls surprisingly good next season
X factor #3: An unexpected contribution
Matas Buzelis showed in Summer League that he has the confidence to contribute right away. This is a kid who believes he’s the best rookie and is ready to prove it. He may be better than expected, a least as a weapon off the bench.
But he’s not the only young player who could contribute next season. Julian Phillips is healthy and looked like he will be at least a solid rotation player who offers energy and defense off the bench.
Two-way signing DJ Steward is a guy who will get the crowd going and could provide an unexpected boost if he makes the rotation.
The Bulls didn’t replace the talent they lost this offseason directly, but they could replace it in the aggregate if everyone stays healthy (fat chance), they get leaps from their young players and can find a more dynamic offense and defense with players off the bench.
