Bulls Summer League hot takes that are not about Matas Buzelis

DJ Steward made an impression, but do not get too excited
DJ Steward has earned the third and final, two-way contract from the Chicago Bulls. He did this largely based on his incredible 37-point (8-12 from 3PT) performance on Friday. Steward should provide additional depth at the point guard position for the Bulls.
Steward is a score first point guard that is able to get to his shot with his quickness. On defense, he showed ability to apply solid on ball pressure. He should be a fun attraction for the Windy City club and can fill in in a pinch for the Bulls in the upcoming season.
After watching his five games in Summer League I do not see how Steward's game translates at the NBA level. At 6-2 and 165 lbs, he will be liability on the defensive end and he did not demonstrate the capability to run offense effectively outside pick n' roll situations which usually resulted a shot for him. The Bulls offense seemed one dimensional this past week, but to be fair most Summer League offenses do.
He was to be trying to create more for himself, then get his team involved. With that said, he did have a solid assist/turnover ratio, so a larger sample size might be needed. The Bulls to take a chance on Steward is a worthy gamble. His upside would be a ball dominant, instant offense player off the bench more than a traditional point guard.
