The Chicago Bulls start training camp next week and there has already been plenty of drama.

They have the Zach LaVine problem hanging over them, Josh Giddey making his debut, Lonzo Ball trying to make a comeback and Patrick Williams may be injured already.

Most of it has been negative even though the team is trying to spin it otherwise, so why not inject a little positivity before the season starts?

Shams Charania reported that the Memphis Grizzlies have waived former Bulls’ legend Derrick Rose, who will be a free agent if he clears waivers.

Should the Bulls bring back one of their all-time greats?

Chicago Bulls free agency: Derrick Rose

It would be a nice story if Derrick Rose could finish his career where it started, as his last stint in Chicago had terrible ending.

After winning the MVP, Rose was never the same, missing most of the next two seasons and never really returning to form, though he did have some good seasons with the Knicks, Timberwolves and Pistons.

Rose is now 35-years-old and this could be his last year in the league after not playing much over the last three seasons.

It would be nice for Rose to end his last year with regular standing ovations from Bulls fans, who would be delighted to see him back in Chicago.

The Bulls could clear a roster spot for him easily enough, though he would have little chance of cracking the rotation. If the Bulls didn’t already have one pointless roster spot taken by Jevon Carter, they could sign Rose to a minimum and let him play out his final games off the end of the Bulls’ bench.

There really isn’t much reason for Chicago to do it other than nostalgia and to show some gratitude for a guy who put his body on the line to try and bring his hometown team a title.

It would also be a positive that would have fans buzzing before training camp, something that is not happening now, as there isn’t much to be excited about when it comes to the Bulls.

The Bulls could use a veteran voice in the guard ranks and have part of their mid-level exception available if the wanted to do it.

Why not?

It’s not like Rose is going to hurt anything and it would be a fun training camp story that would take some of the spotlight off all the negatives and question marks around the Chicago Bulls.
