3. Jevon Carter

The Bulls signed Carter to a three-year deal worth $19.5 million last summer. They wanted another stout defensive guard in the backcourt capable of playing off Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and the Bulls' core. Things have not gone well since Lonzo Ball’s injury, and they hoped Carter would give them quality minutes off the bench.

The 28-year-old should be in his prime. He was coming off the best season of his career, but things did not work in the Windy City. Carter averaged just 5.0 points, 1.3 assists, and 0.8 rebounds in 13.9 minutes per game over 72 contests. He shot just 37.8 percent from the field and finished 534th of 572 players in VORP.

The Bulls would love to dump Carter’s contract. There will not be minutes available playing behind Coby White, Zach LaVine, Alex Caruso, and Ayo Dosunmu. That makes no mention of a potential Lonzo Ball return or Dalen Terry stepping up for more run.

Carter is set to make just $6.5 million this season. His contract may be small enough that some team is willing to take it on, especially if they believe in his shooting and perimeter defense. The Bulls will search the market, and Carter may be gone before the start of the 2024-25 season.
