The current front office of the Chicago Bulls is headed into its 5th season and have so far gotten mediocre results.
The Bulls are 12th overall in wins during that span, which is exactly what you would expect from a team that has routinely been in the middle of the pack.
The front office has taken plenty of heat for bad trades and inaction from all corners of the media and it has been well deserved.
The Bulls have offered ridiculous excuses for their mistakes and we’ve no choice but to accept them or not, as no one really knows the thought process of a front office that hasn’t been very transparent about who is actually making the decisions.
Considering several of the Bulls’ recent mishaps seem to be related to the attempted fattening of the Reinsdorf’s wallets, it would be amazing to get a look behind the scenes to see how things really went down.
Fat chance the Chicago Bulls follow the Hornets transparency with fans
If you were choosing teams to emulate in the NBA, the Charlotte Hornets would not likely be one of them.
They’ve been one of the worst franchises in the league however you want to measure it and their roster is arguably an even bigger mess than the Bulls.
But there is one area in which Bulls fans wish their front office were more like the Hornets and that’s in transparency.
The Hornets recently released a behind-the-scenes look at their war room during the draft process, showing the thoughts that went into their decisions, how they were evaluating players and what team president Jeff Peterson is like as a person:
Fan response to this has been overwhelmingly positive, with most saying they wished their team would do something similar.
Most fans know little about what front office executives actually do or the day-to-day process of the job, so this was a refreshing peek behind the curtain for fans that don’t have access to an NBA front office.
This is one thing about the Hornets I wish the Bulls would mimic, as it would be a fascinating and probably horrifying look into what has gone into some of their confusing choices of late.
I wouldn’t hold your breath, but the Hornets have set a precedent that other teams will surely follow.
