The Chicago Bulls are at the center of the early season trade rumors. Zach LaVine draws the headlines, but the two-time All-Star is not the only player on the block. DeMar DeRozan’s expiring contract is most likely to be shipped out. Alex Caruso, Patrick Williams, Andre Drummond, and Jevon Carter all figure to draw interest from rival teams.

Will the Bulls enter a total rebuild? They missed the playoffs last season and have won just seven of their first 21 games to begin this campaign. Chicago cannot expect Lonzo Ball to return to form after missing two full seasons, so it is time to retool. Trading LaVine, DeRozan, Caruso, Nikola Vucevic, and Drummond would give the Bulls their best chance at building a contender, but it would take time.

The Bulls will shop DeRozan before the Feb. 8 trade deadline, but who can the franchise get in return?

7. Gabe Vincent

The Lakers are rumored to be interested in DeRozan, which should come as no surprise. There was mutual interest in him returning home in 2021 before the Bulls traded for him. LeBron James wants the Lakers to add pieces before the deadline, and DeRozan figures to be one of the best players available.

D’Angelo Russell would be part of the return if Los Angeles acquires a third star, but the Bulls have little interest. The 27-year-old would be a matching salary that Chicago would likely attempt to flip to a third team.

The Bulls would prioritize draft capital, which could make Gabe Vincent part of the package. The 6’3 guard helped Miami reach the NBA Finals in 2023 but has only played four games with the Lakers after signing a three-year $33 million contract in the offseason. Vincent has already missed one month with a knee injury and does not appear close to returning.

If the Bulls can get him right, Vincent can be impactful on both ends of the floor. This could be a shot for Chicago to buy low and still get significant draft pick compensation for DeMar DeRozan.
