7 Players who might replace DeMar DeRozan before the trade deadline
By Tyler Watts
1. Tyler Herro
Herro is a walking bucket, but the Heat were willing to trade him for Damian Lillard. His playmaking is limited and the undersized guard struggles defensively. Miami would have to further diminish his role if they acquired DeRozan.
The 23-year-old has missed the last month with an ankle injury, and the Heat made their run to the NBA Finals without him last season. Herro is an elite shooter and scorer, but is the team better without him? It is a fair question and could lead to him being dealt to a rebuilding squad before the deadline.
The Chicago Bulls would happily make him their number-one option during their rebuild. Herro may score 25 points per game and sell some jerseys. The Bulls would not be trying to win and could make the 6’5 guard their sixth man when they are ready to jump back into the mix.
Tyler Herro may be the best player the Chicago Bulls could legitimately acquire for DeMar DeRozan. They will want draft picks and young talent to start a rebuild. Expect the Bulls to explore trading multiple players before Feb. 8, but they need to get significant returns to make the moves. The rumors are about to heat up, so stay tuned for all the latest.
