The Chicago Bulls have the 11th pick in the 2024 NBA Draft and hope a star player falls into their collective lap.

The Bulls have found gems in the draft before, most recently Jimmy Butler, who they selected 30th in the 2011 Draft.

As with all NBA teams, the Bulls have also had plenty of draft whiffs, sometimes missing out on a star by just one pick.

I started in the post-Jordan era and looked at all of the times the Chicago Bulls were frustratingly close to landing a star in the draft but made the wrong choice.

1995: Bulls draft Jason Caffey #20, Michael Finley drafted #21

In 1995, the Bulls chose Jason Caffey, who had a mediocre career with the Bulls, Warriors and Bucks.

Considering this was the latter stages of the first round, you don’t necessarily expect to find a star or even a good role player, but there was one available in Michael Finley, who was selected with the very next pick.

Finley was a two-time All-Star who received MVP votes in three different seasons and had a long, productive career.

The worst part is that Finley is from the Chicago area and played his college ball at Wisconsin, so the Bulls missed out on a hometown guy.
