5. Javonte Green

The story of Javonte Green is not like most of the players in the NBA. After entering his name in the 2015 NBA Draft, Green went undrafted and proceeded to begin his professional career overseas. He sent time with clubs in Spain, Italy and Germany before earning an opportunity back in the United States with the Celtics in 2019.

As such, Javonte did not play his rookie season in the NBA until he was 26 years old. He played with Boston until March 2021 when he was traded to the Bulls. Green has mostly played sparingly during his time in Chicago, outside of the 2021-22 season where he started in 45 games.

Even during that year, his numbers and impact did not exactly jump off the page. He is a nice story and I wish him success, but it is clear Javonte is not exactly the picture of what an impact player in this league looks like.

Looking at just the stats, Green has actually been solid in the time he has been able to get on the floor this season. But he has only played in nine games as a whole, and his impending unrestricted free agency makes it very unlikely the team keeps him around past this summer.
