The Chicago Bulls drew mostly negative reviews when they traded Alex Caruso straight up for Josh Giddey.

While Giddey is a promising young player, most thought the Bulls should have been able to pry draft capital from the Thunder, a team with a treasure trove of picks at their disposal.

The Bulls are banking on Giddey having another level in a new role with a different team and that he will put to rest some of the concerns about his weaknesses as a shooter and defender.

On a recent episode of the Lowe Post, NBA guru Zach Lowe spoke about Giddey’s future role with the Bulls and whether it’s enough to justify the lucrative deal they are likely to give him.

Zach Lowe has questions about Josh Giddey and the Chicago Bulls

Lowe has been one of the most outspoken critics of the Bulls’ confusing offseason but took a more positive spin on the addition of Josh Giddey. You can hear what he had to say here:

He believes Giddey will put up big numbers as the “engine” of the Bulls’ offense, but has questions about his versatility and whether that is all he can do.

Lowe conceded that running a “competent offense” is the most difficult job in the NBA, but given some of Giddey’s other weaknesses, wonders what his ceiling with the Bulls really is.

He made a loose prediction that Giddey would be the 11th-best creator in the NBA next season and rightfully questioned whether that’s a guy you can build around.

The answer to that question lies with Giddey, who has bet on himself and has a chance to be more than just an “engine” for the Bulls.
