As it stands, it feels as if the Josh Giddey free agency saga will never come to an end. To kick off free agency, the Chicago Bulls reportedly offered the 6-foot-8 guard a four-year, $80 million contract, to which he rebuffed.

Giddey has been persistent in asking for roughly $30 million per annum—a number that hasn't fluctuated dating back to the beginning of last season. It's been well-documented that the 22-year-old has his sights set on emulating Orlando Magic's Jalen Suggs' contract. For reference, Suggs signed a five-year, $150.5 million pact last October.

Nonetheless, Suggs isn't the only young point guard whose contract is worth duplicating. It hasn't come from Giddey nor his representation, but the contract Immanuel Quickley signed with the Toronto Raptors is certainly a sticking point. Quickley signed a lucrative, five-year, $162.5 million extension in July 2024. It's safe to say Quickley is a quality starter, but his going rate is unjustifiable.

The expensive point guard market, coupled with a lack of salary cap space around the NBA, has led to a strenuous negotiating process. Consequently, nearly two months since the beginning of free agency, Giddey remains unsigned.

Matas Buzelis' story alludes to Josh Giddey re-signing with the Bulls

Yet, there's new hope that the contract conundrum will soon come to an end. Bulls' sophomore sensation Matas Buzelis posted a cryptic Instagram story alluding to Giddey and Chicago at long last agreeing to a contract.

Here's the catch: it didn't come from Buzelis' verified Instagram account, with over 265,000 followers. The story came via Buzelis' "@notmfourteen" account, which seems to be the 20-year-old's secondary, or more personal, Instagram account.

Buzelis wasn't blatant, stating Giddey had or will soon re-sign. Instead, he posted Giddey's Instagram handle, followed by pen and paper emojis—sparking the belief that the restricted free agent soon will put pen to paper.

It's rational to question the validity of such a post. For one, there's no telling if it's actually Buzelis. On the flip side, the @notmfourteen account follows Buzelis' verified account, Giddey, and several of the 20-year-old's close friends, including his brother Vince Buzelis's personal account @vinnybuzelis.

Furthermore, Buzelis' @notmfourteen account is littered with more personal posts, providing insight into the Chicago native's life, as opposed to his verified account, which primarily features basketball content.

Whether Buzelis' cryptic post was intentional in sparking the belief that Giddey will soon be re-signed, or not, we won't know. That is, until the Australian point guard finally does re-sign with the Bulls.
