Bulls need to capitalize on Clippers' disaster with Darius Garland idea

When the NBA decided to dock the LA Clippers five future first-round picks, they put them in an impossible situation. If the Clippers want any chance at a brighter future, they should seriously consider trading some of their top pieces in exchange for more picks. Darius Garland could be one of those trade candidates, and the Chicago Bulls should take an interest in the starting point guard.

The Bulls should be exploring any and all possible avenues to help them improve in the next few years. Josh Giddey is the team’s point guard right now, but bringing in a guy like Garland – who is a much better shooter and perimeter creator – could be better for the team in the long run, especially if the price is right.

Flipping Giddey and other pieces in exchange for Garland could be a smart move for the Bulls to consider, depending on how the next year or so with Caleb Wilson and Matas Buzelis goes.

Bulls should consider a Darius Garland trade

Garland was traded from the Cleveland Cavaliers to the Clippers last season. James Harden went to the Cavs in the deal, and now Garland is slated to be a focal piece in LA.

Unfortunately, the Clippers don’t have a ton of ways to get better, especially in the short-term. LA doesn’t really have any first-round picks to utilize in trades, and without that, they don’t have a real way to improve.

Because of that, the Clippers should fully commit to the youth movement. And trading Garland could be one of their best ways to improve and restock their draft cabinet.

Chicago should see if it can get its hands on Garland. As noted, he seems like he would be a much better fit with the rest of the Bulls’ core, especially in the current-day NBA.

At the end of the day, Giddey’s lack of a three-point shot and struggles on the defensive end make it tough to trust him as the long-term answer at point guard in Chicago.

Garland’s three-point shot would give the Bulls a nice infusion of perimeter talent, which is something they don’t have a ton of right now, especially considering Giddey’s lack of an outside shot.

He’s not the best defender, but his offensive game would probably help Wilson and Buzelis more than Giddey’s will.

It would wholly depend on the price, but if they can get him for a decent package, the Bulls should consider trying to trade for Garland.
