The Chicago Bulls have a very important season ahead of them. In some ways, it’s the beginning of a new era of Bulls basketball. They just drafted Caleb Wilson with the No. 4 pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, and he seems like the type of player who could lead them into the future. And right away, he should try to develop great chemistry with Josh Giddey.
During his time in Summer League, Wilson showed that he has the chops to be a great scorer. Or at least that he can be. But at the NBA level, he’ll need some help to ensure that he can get to his spots. Giddey is the best playmaker on the Bulls. He’s one of the better playmakers in the NBA. He can help Wilson thrive as a scorer from Day 1.
But in order for him to be able to do that, the Bulls duo needs to work together. If Wilson and Giddey’s chemistry can develop quickly, it would be perfect for the rookie’s immediate scoring impact.

Heading into the draft, Wilson was the clear-cut fourth-overall pick. It was always obvious that he was going to land with the Bulls, and that’s exactly what happened.
His defense is what stood out the most during his lone season at North Carolina. He put up monster steal and block numbers, and he’s the exact type of anchor who can help shape the Bulls’ defense for years.
But he has plenty of potential on the offensive end as well. During his time in Las Vegas, he proved that. Chicago should do everything it can to develop him into its franchise cornerstone on both ends.
That said, scoring at the collegiate level (and Summer League level) is a far cry from doing it in the NBA. Wilson won’t necessarily get to his spots as easily, and he’ll need help setting himself up.
That’s where Giddey comes into play. He may not be the best shooter or defender, but he knows how to create open looks for his teammates. That’s what Wilson needs.
He needs to get in the gym with Giddey. Focus on developing synergy. A great partnership. Because if Giddey can create consistent, quality looks for Wilson, it will make his rookie season run a lot smoother.
Wilson will have the ball in his hands a fair amount. He’ll be tasked with creating for himself. But the more open shots Giddey can get him, the better.
It will be better for his confidence, it will be better for his growth, and it will be better for the Bulls. Wilson and Giddey’s partnership may be the most important on the team come October.
