The Chicago Bulls are reportedly interested in Denver Nuggets forward Peyton Watson, who will be a restricted free agent this summer. Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reported the potential interest in a recent newsletter.

“Denver, of course, will have the right to match any offer sheet that comes Watson's way,” Fischer wrote. “League sources have already identified the Lakers, Bulls and Nets as potential suitors that are likely to have the requisite spending power to present an offer sheet that causes angst in the Rocky Mountains. The Stein Line has learned, in fact, that both the Lakers and Bulls registered trade interest in Watson leading up to the in-season deadline for deals on Feb. 5, although it must be noted that Chicago's front office will soon have a new lead voice after the recent ouster of former Nuggets executive Artūras Karnišovas.”

Watson would be an intriguing addition for the Bulls.

With the new lottery odds, tanking won’t be nearly as beneficial as it has been in years past (should those odds go into effect next season, which is still questionable).

Because of that, adding some talent in an attempt to be relatively competitive could be a smart idea for the Bulls. They could stay toward the bottom while also getting the best possible lottery odds.

Watson would definitely be the type of player that the Bulls could sign to help them win now, stay in the middle of the pack, and also the guy who could potentially help them in the future.

Though Watson dealt with some injury issues this season, when he was on the court, he gave the Denver Nuggets some great minutes. And he’s still only 23 years old.

The Bulls need to start building out a young core. A group of guys who they can try to build around heading into the future. Because right now, Chicago doesn’t have much.

Matas Buzelis looks like a solid player. Josh Giddey is okay, too. But outside of that, they traded a lot of the guys who they were building around for the past few years.

Watson would fit right in. They need forward depth. They need defense. They need to find players who could potentially blossom into stars, and Watson has definitely shown enough potential to take a chance on him.

Denver will obviously have a chance to match any contract offer the Bulls throw his way, but Watson sounds like the perfect offseason target for Chicago.
