The Bulls have plenty of scoring talent, but they finished 24th in offensive rating last season. Chicago needs a true point guard to run things. They can no longer count on Lonzo Ball. The Bulls must quickly decide if Coby White or Jevon Carter is capable of filling that role. If not, they must acquire someone else.

Hiring Mike D’Antonio would instantly provide a spark. He was the architect of the Suns Seven Seconds or Less attack and helped James Harden transform into the MVP in Houston. The 72-year-old has been an NBA head coach for 16 seasons, but has not had a top job since leaving the Rockets in 2020.

D’Antoni comes up in nearly every opening. He is still interested in coaching but could create a new set of problems for Chicago.

D’Antoni is a fantastic offensive mind with plenty of playoff experience, but his teams always struggle on the defensive end. The Bulls were fifth in defensive rating last season. If they flip their offense and defense, Chicago will be in the same spot in the standings.

Mike D’Antoni made the playoffs all four years he was in Houston and would certainly help the Chicago Bulls get back into the mix. The franchise may chase someone with championship experience or a former head coach on their bench.
