3. Bulls gamble OG is enough

The Raptors and Bulls enter the season in nearly identical positions. Both have All-Stars entering the final year of their contract and a desire to contend. Each has a talented roster but missed the playoffs in 2023. Can they bounce back, or do they sell pieces and head into a rebuild before the trade deadline?

Toronto has the future of two marquee players to sort out before next summer. Pascal Siakam becomes an unrestricted free agent, and OG Anunoby has a player option. If OG declines, he will hit the open market. The Raptors need to decide on a direction quickly. If they struggle early on, Siakam and Anunoby could be on the block before the deadline.

The Raptors will set a massive asking price for both players, but Anunoby is the 3-and-D wing plus that Chicago needs. He can space the floor for Zach LaVine and DeMar DeRozan while playing stout defense and creating some plays.

Anunoby is an elite defender and just entering his prime. Expect a robust market, which necessitates the two first-round picks and an agreement on a long-term deal. The Chicago Bulls have a better chance of landing the 6’7 wing, but it won’t be easy given his versatile skill set that plugs into any contending roster.

Toronto may decide to keep Anunoby, especially if he wants to stay, but Siakam could be a different story.
